Our Peace Commissioners are appointed by the Minister for Justice to serve the public in various legal capacities. We are committed to upholding the law and assisting individuals with essential legal processes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Witnessing signatures on documents required by law
- Taking statutory declarations
- Signing certificates and orders
- Issuing summonses and warrants (though these powers are rarely exercised)
Peace Commissioners are honorary positions and do not receive payment for their services. They are expected to be of good character and are usually well-established in their local communities. It's important to note that Peace Commissioners should not sign documents where they have a personal interest, such as for family members or close colleagues.

If you are interested in becoming a Peace Commissioner, you can apply directly to the Minister for Justice. There is no special application form; however, you should provide background information and reasons for your application.
